Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitarist and musician. She is the youngest woman and the first to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is a rising star in Indian sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's pupil as well as his daughter of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. In her first years she split her time between London New Delhi. She gave her debut performance at New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. After that, she relocated into Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha was only 17 years old, has had a successful performing and recording career. Her father has been with her in many performances for some time. The year 1998 saw her debuted Anourag as her debut single album. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Anoushka Shankar's career is not only limited to music. Bapi: The Love of My Live is her 2002 novel, and was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will continue to grow and expand. We are looking forward to seeing many new things from her. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her early years in London and Delhi then moving to California in the state where she attended the high school. When she was nine years old, she started studying music with her father, who made her debut with the sitar 4 years later at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka gained a lot of experience by touring around the globe with the father. She played in Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and artistry in performing in the Asian Arts.
